Dede tried to calm her down, saying, “Just calm down, okay?”
But Mide wasn’t having it. “I don’t want to talk to him until I feel comfortable. He wants to put me in trouble.”
Dede soothed her, “I understand you, but you just need to relax.”
Mide, visibly tense, replied, “I am calm… it’s just that I’m ashamed.”
Dede gave her a reassuring look. “Sorry, my dear. Everything will be fine. You two just need to talk.”
Mide nodded, “Yes… but not now.”
Dede, ever patient, said, “Okay, my dear.”
