On the fateful day of August 13, 2025, Ruth was involved in a severe accident in Edo State. My people, it was a Dangote truck, reportedly driven by a rookie driver without a license, that caused this heartbreaking incident.
Ruth, who was just around Auchi Polytechnic, suffered devastating leg injuries due to this accident. It was so bad that she had to have her leg amputated. Chai! These are truly sad times.
As we heard from the grapevine, our dear Phyna couldn’t take this pain alone. She had to break the silence and let the BBNaija nation know through a heartfelt message on Instagram. This official statement, made by her solicitor on her behalf, was raw with emotion. It was straight from the heart, and it broke down the whole event for us.
The statement read: “We remain solicitors to Ruth Otabor, Josephine Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, and the Otabor family. It’s with a heavy heart that we inform the general public of the loss of their daughter, sister, and mother. Ruth passed on the 31st of August 2025 at around 6:30 in the morning.”
The Otabor family has asked for privacy during this mourning period. BBNaija fam, let’s give them the space they need, abeg! The funeral arrangements for Ruth will be announced at a later date. Let’s keep an ear out.
